Mold & Environmental Toxin Testing

Mold toxins and everyday chemicals can build up quietly and show up as fatigue, brain fog, headaches, rashes, sensitivity to smells or symptoms that move around the body, often while routine blood work looks normal. Testing helps show whether exposure is part of your picture.

Mycotoxin (Mold Toxin) Testing

A urine test measures mycotoxins, the toxic compounds made by certain molds in water-damaged buildings and some foods. Results show which toxins are present, which helps point to likely mold sources and guides treatment choices. Read more in Mycotoxin Toxicity: When Mold Gets Inside You.

Environmental Chemical Testing

Urine testing can also screen for common environmental chemicals, including:

  • Pesticides and herbicides such as glyphosate
  • Phthalates and plasticizers from plastics and fragrance
  • PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” from nonstick coatings, water-resistant products and some drinking water
  • Solvents and other industrial chemicals

Tests I Commonly Use

I choose each test from the specialty lab best suited to your situation, so the exact panels vary from patient to patient. When several kinds of exposure are possible, I often recommend the combined Toxin Zoomer; when the question is narrower, a single panel may be enough.

Brand names link to each lab’s own sample report (PDF), so you can see what a results report looks like. Your actual panel may differ, because I choose tests for each patient individually.

What Testing Can and Can’t Tell You

Results reflect what your body is excreting at the time of the test, which can be affected by recent exposures and how well your detox pathways are working. Results are always interpreted alongside your symptoms and exposure history, never on their own.

Next Steps After Testing

The first step is reducing exposure, which can include home inspection guidance for mold and water testing for chemicals. Then we support your body’s own clearance step by step, at a pace you can tolerate.

Ready to Find Out What Your Body Needs?

Testing is most useful when it is chosen for your specific symptoms and history. I see patients in person in Norwalk, CT, serving Fairfield County and the NYC metro area, and by telehealth for Connecticut residents.
