Hormone Testing
Hormones affect energy, sleep, mood, weight, cycles, bone health and brain function. A single blood test doesn’t always show the full picture, so I choose the type of hormone testing that fits your question.
Options I Use
- Blood testing — thyroid panel, sex hormones, insulin and other markers
- Saliva testing — cortisol at several points in the day
- Dried urine testing — sex hormones and how your body breaks them down, cortisol rhythm across the day, and melatonin markers
Tests I Commonly Use
I choose each test from the specialty lab best suited to your situation, so the exact panels vary from patient to patient.
- DUTCH Complete (Precision Analytical) — dried urine hormone testing; sample reports: female · male
- Full thyroid panel and other blood work through conventional and specialty labs
Brand names link to each lab’s own sample report (PDF), so you can see what a results report looks like. Your actual panel may differ, because I choose tests for each patient individually.
Who It May Help
Women with PMS, perimenopause or menopause symptoms, PCOS or cycle changes; men with low energy or signs of low testosterone; and anyone with fatigue, poor sleep or stress-related symptoms.
What to Expect
Dried urine testing uses four to five small urine samples on filter paper over one day, collected at home. For women who still have cycles, timing within the cycle matters, and we’ll tell you when to collect.
Ready to Find Out What Your Body Needs?
Testing is most useful when it is chosen for your specific symptoms and history. I see patients in person in Norwalk, CT, serving Fairfield County and the NYC metro area, and by telehealth for Connecticut residents.
